The NHS has so little help to offer as the Government see mental ill health as a low priority.

But, if you are reading this web site, you will know your mental health is a PRIORITY. Poor mental health affects all areas of your life: work, home, colleagues, family, peers, and general interaction with society.

Take a look at the following questions and see how many are applicable to you and your situation at the moment?


· Have you been to your GP and only been offered medication to help you?

· Have you been taking medication and found it to be ineffective?

· Is taking the medication causing more problems [ie side effects], and so exacerbating your mental ill health?

· Have you been to a therapist and felt stuck, or no better off, but worse off financially?


· Do you feel totally misunderstood?

· Do you have good days and as many bad days, but do not understand why?

· Do you often feel stupid, neurotic, or "potty" as if you are "losing your mind" or the plot?

· Does your thoughts and feelings frighten or overwhelm you?

· Do you often feel sad, or have long periods of feeling low?

· Do you get angry and snap at people?

· Do you say "yes" to others demands but really want to say "no"?

· Do you often feel intimidated by others, or coerced into doing something against your will?

· Are you afraid of other peoples’ reactions/opinions so much it makes you miserable or anxious?


· Do you sleep more and do less?

· Has your self care gone down in your standards?

· Do you feel so stressed that you only have time to REACT to situations as they happen?

· Do you remember the last time you laughed like a child?


· Do you resort to self abuse [i.e. over eating or under eating, excess alcohol, drugs, excess smoking, or being a workaholic]?

· Is food the only control you have in your life?

· Is self harming the only control you have in your life?

· Do you feel so backed into a corner, the only way out is suicide?


· Is your sexuality making you feel that life is not worth living?

· Is your sexuality making you feel you have to live two separate lives dependant on friends and family reactions?

· Do you constantly seek out abusive partners?

· Do you need others to love you and show you affection?


· Do you constantly have to check things?

· Do you feel safe if things happen in threes [or another number personal to you]?

· Do you feel safe if other members of your family perform the same rituals?

· Do you feel unable to leave the house?
