Obsessive Compulsive Disorder [OCD] varies in symptoms but is always
anxiety based. If left over years, it can spiral out of control to control
an individual's life, and often their immediate family members. It is
highly distressing, lowering the self esteem, reinforcing the negative
beliefs, and thus increasing the negative behaviour.

A client feels compelled to repeat actions or words to alleviate their
anxiety around not feeling safe. The distress, however, is not alleviated
due to their negative thinking. It becomes an established pattern working
in all areas of a client's life only giving short relief when accomplished
thereby casuing them to do it again, and again, and again. Any negative
life events only cause heightened distress and pressure to repeat negative
coping mechanisms.
Emotional Problem Solving helps the client identify all the negative
coping mechanisms casuing them distress. It also looks at the negative
thoughts associated with and around the negative behaviours. It then looks
at the damaged self esteem and negative core beliefs before assisting the
client with new positive coping mechanisms. It does not take long for
individuals to feel they are finally regaining control of their life.
